Support Request: Client fails to load content

Description

After switching to Sitekiosk online i have a intermittet problem where the client fails to load content after restart.
It seems to me to be some kind of networkproblem where my IOT-net does not let traffic trough before some kind of timeout runs out and the sitekiosk application restarts.
During the startup it happens around 80% that the progress bar just stops.
When that happens the client fails to load.
Is there a way to wait a little bit longer for the network or do You have any other suggestions?
This morning 2 out of 5 clients failed which is quite annoying.

Hello,

there are no direct settings to slow down the start of SiteKiosk Online artificially.
You can for example lower the idle timeout, once the threshold is reached, the project reloads.

Also note that the project content is stored locally on the clients once it has been published unless it is content explicitly located on the Internet or the local network. So you may consider changing your project to only show content that does not require a working network connection when loading and for example only when someone clicks a button a browser is opened.

Still have the same issue even with not loading content on random kiosks....
The error in LogFiles is:
ERR_FAILED (-2) loading 'http://127.0.0.1:8889
Will my network block 127.0.0.1:8889 randomly.
One way that makes my non starting kiosk active is to republish the project during startup....
I feel lost and confused.... Why is it working eventually and why does it randomly fail after restart?

Hello,

The error message means that the local content section of SiteKiosk Online, which in turn shows the Project (e.g. web browser with the website), cannot be accessed.
You should first check the network environment to see whether a special firewall/proxy is configured on the system that can prevent access to localhost (127.0.0.1).

Otherwise, the content section is provided by the SiteKiosk Content Service and how quickly it starts depends on the overall performance of the system. Generally, there is no problem here and SiteKiosk Online also works on our older/slower test systems without such problems.
But nevertheless, your computer may be busy with other tasks at startup, which delays the start of the windows service(s).

Found that the problem occurs only when connected to the network I’m supposed to connect to….
My theory now is that during start the kiosk is trying to reach something on the network that is not whitelisted I’m my providers web filter…
Can that be the case You think?

Hello,

Generally, the client also works offline (even if only temporarily for license reasons).
See: https://sitekiosk.online/help/en/Licensingtheclient.html
But of course, a reliable Internet connection (connection to the SiteKiosk Online Server) is generally a prerequisite for using the SiteKiosk Online Client.

The SiteKiosk Online Client (or its Windows service) simply uses the network connection provided by the operating system. The current SiteKiosk Online Client only requires an outgoing network connection from the client system via TCP port 443 to communicate with the server (e.g. https://sitekiosk.online). The connection is initiated by the client and https and wss (secure websocket) are used for encryption.
