Support Request: SiteKiosk Classic - store files in Dropbox folder

Description

Is it possible to allow the SiteKiosk restricted user to have access to a DropBox folder where the files are stored? I have made the files available offline and granted access in Windows to the SiteKiosk restricted user but when the terminal boots it asks for a DropBox sign in.

Hello,

There is no special DropBox connection/configuration in SiteKiosk Classic (or SiteKiosk Online).

However, you can first set up / configure a Dropbox directory under the SiteKiosk user (used in Auto Start mode) without SiteKiosk running (for example, a Dropbox folder under C:\Users\Public\Documents\).
Here is the information on how to gain access:

You could then finally add the DropBox folder to the file manager in the SiteKiosk Classic Windows configuration (>Files & Downloads): https://www.sitekiosk.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?file_manager.htm

Thanks Michael,

That has left me with only one problem. During startup I get a dialog titled "Couldn't start Dropbox". SiteKiosk startup continues and everything works as it should, but it is necessary to tap the "OK" button to dismiss the dialog.

Is there a setting in SiteKiosk that I need to set to avoid Dropbox displaying this dialog?

Best Wishes
Nick

Hello,

since this message does not come from SiteKiosk but from Dropbox, you would have to ask their support.

If everthing else works you may block the Dropbox dialog with using so-called Windows & Dialog management of SiteKiosk Classic Windows.

You can create a new entry with the corresponding title under -->Access/Security-->Block system critical windows & dialog boxes-->Settings".

You can find further information here:

Otherwise, here is an FAQ article on SiteKiosk Classic Windows and its influence on external applications: https://www.sitekiosk.com/eu/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=25533

Or you check whether you can start Drobox on the kiosk computer as a Windows service, regardless of the Windows user logged in.

Thanks. The problem was solved by allowing folder access to the program folder for Dropbox and the files folder in System Security Manager.

Thank you for your help.
