FAQ: Open PDF files in SiteKiosk
If using a “Chrome Browser” Skin PDF files will be opened with the integrated Browser Plug-in.
Installing another PDF Reader is not necessary.
The IE-based skins use the Acrobat Reader ActiveX PlugIn which is also used in the Internet Explorer.
Therefore you just need to make sure that the Acrobat Reader is installed
and that you can open PDF links in the Internet Explorer on the system you use with SiteKiosk.
(Display PDF in browser | Acrobat XI

Please note that this Acrobat Reader setting can be user dependent and you may also have to check it in the SiteKiosk user account (used for the “Auto Start” mode):

Here an example PDF link you can use for testing:

With some PDF links you want to use in SiteKiosk it might be necessary that you also activate the file Manager and allow Downloads (depends in how the PDF file will be delivered by the web server).

1. If the link always initiates a download in the Internet Explorer instead of opening the PDF directly in the Browser check it the Acrobat Reader settings are set to “Display PDF in browser” (-->Edit-->Preferences-->Internet--> Display PDF in browser).

2, If the link still initiates a download in the Internet Explorer (even you made the Acrobat Reader setting “Open PDF in Browser) it will be caused by the web server providing the link.
Then you need to allow downloads and activate the File Manager of SiteKiosk.

3. If it still doesn’t work or you want to display the same download dialog like in the Internet Explorer you can activate the IE download dialog for the corresponding URL,
More information about this feature:

-->10. Allow the IE Download Dialog
Please note:
When enabling the IE download dialog the PDF will not open automatically after download.
But you can add a registry value to open the PDF automatically again:

As this is a user dependent setting you should execute the reg file while logged in as SiteKiosk user (used in Auto Start Mode).
