Many minor bugfixes.
Features:
Toolbar for fast content editing:
Many often used features like resize, position, center, maximize, copy, paste, etc. are now in a toolbar
directly above the content
Inspector overview improved:
You can now make certain changes directly in the overview of the inspector, e.g. change the order (also by drag and drop),
Change display duration in sequences and add new elements.
Pages can now also be edited directly in the overview.
Multiple selection:
Elements can be added to the selection in the content area by means of Ctrl or Shift, as well as a rectangle can be drawn around the elements to be selected (within a container).
In the Inspector overview, multiple selection of elements can also be performed with the Ctrl or Shift key.
Media library:
Via the "Media Library" tab, you can access a list of all files available in the current project and released from other projects.
These can be evaluated in a preview and inserted directly into the content by mouse click.
Improved machine overview for publishing:
The machine overview / selection has been extended to additional columns, which also allow sorting.
In particular, the "Connected" column has been added, indicating the connection status of the machines.
The machine list can now be updated via a button.
Windows Installer with automatic login:
The current SiteKiosk installer for Windows can now be downloaded from the “Publish” page.
This will automatically log on to the server as well as set SiteCaster as the main application.
This means you only have to install and launch SiteKiosk to view published SiteCaster content.
Smart Add:
When adding elements, the matching target container will now be determined based on the currently selected element.
If no element is selected, the new element is inserted directly into the content layer.
When a container is selected, the new element is inserted into it.
If another element is selected, the new element will be inserted on the same level as the selected one.
Elements that would be out of bounds of the container are automatically centered when pasted.
Display of free space:
The project overview now shows the remaining free space for uploaded files.
Logging the playback:
In the project settings, the logging of the playback of elements can now be activated.
Logging involves the display of items that reside within a sequence or an exchange container and the opening of pop-ups.
Double-click to edit the properties:
Double-clicking an item (both in the inspector overview and in the content area) will now open the properties of the item.
Manual control of video playback:
For video elements, manual control by the end user can now be activated.
The end user can start, pause, stop and change the playback position as well as the volume.
Purpose of new pages:
When creating new pages, you can now directly change the purpose of the page on the screen saver page or page for the second monitor.
This automatically sets the appropriate display condition.
Bugs:
Controlled animations will not be executed because of display conditions.
From a certain number of pages, no more can be added. Instead, the error message appears: "The server is not available at the moment. Please make sure your internet connection is working. ".
Features:
Sequences in sequences are automatically played in full length:
The duration of a sequence within a sequence is now set automatically to the total duration of the elements in the subsequence.
Additional properties for restricted users enabled by default:
The default enabled properties for restricted users now include pop-up, animations and padding. This also applies to existing elements.
If you do not want to explicitly enable them, you have to disable them to restrict their usage.
Bugs:
When navigating, an animation previously activated by the "Show" trigger won't play.
In the confirmation dialog for "Delete project" the number of currently assigned machines is displayed.
A number of smaller bug fixes.
Features
Better integration with the SiteRemote interface:
A sidebar in the project list, now navigates directly to SiteRemote features and back again.
PDF links in web page elements:
PDF links in web page elements can now be opened in the PDF viewer under Android.
Free layout is the default value for new containers:
Newly created containers have a free layout by default. This can be changed after it is created in the properties of the container.
Bugs
Navigation links on containers did not always work on touch displays.
For interactive elements, the mouse pointer was not always changed.
Features:
New animation presets: The animation presets "Off / On" and "Show / Hide" have been added. This allows a underlying element to be made temporarily visible, which can be used in particular with buttons to display a temporary "pressed" state. Additional display conditions for secondary monitor and split screen: Starting with SiteKiosk Windows 9.7, SiteCaster can be operated on the secondary monitor and in a split screen together with the browser. For these purposes, corresponding display conditions have been added to display pages specific to the respective display locations. For example, set the display condition for a page to "Monitor: secondary monitor" to display this page only on the secondary monitor. Enhanced machine status: The following state will be shown for every machine: green: The machine has updated the content and is displaying it. yellow: The machine is currently downloading the latest content or is updating the app. red: The machine is not displaying the content. Possible reasons: SiteCaster wasn't set up properly in the configuration, SiteKiosk is not running, the machine is not online or SiteCaster was set as a screensaver, but the machine is currently not idle. Bugs:
When an element was added at the beginning of a sequence, the display time was incorrectly moved to another element. If the size of an element was changed via drag and drop, the element was moved as well under certain conditions.
Features:
Animations: Every element (except web page elements) can now be animated. Animation parameters include 2D and 3D transformations like rotation, scaling and translation and also filter effects like blurring and fading. Several presets like bounce, jello, pan & zoom are available to get started quickly. Animations can be triggered by three events: element is shown, element is hidden, element is clicked/tapped. This way you can set up animated transitions for pages, elements in a sequence or pages in an overflow container. Media file sharing: Instead of having to upload media files (like videos, images, PDFs), you can now alternatively also select existing files from the same or even other projects. Therefore there is no need to upload a file multiple times any more. Files from other projects can only be selected, if the share media files option in the project settings is enabled. To create a repository with common assets that can be used in all projects, just create a new project and allow media file sharing in the projects settings. You can then add elements (image, video, etc.) to the project and upload the desired files. These files can then be used in every project in your team. Automatic zoom: We have added the option to automatically zoom the content area to fit the available space, which is the default setting now. This way you can always see the complete content without the need to scroll. Place elements outside of content area: Elements can be placed and edited outside the bounds of the content area. This is especially useful when using animations that bring in elements from the outside into the visible area. Player app updates only when necessary: From this version on, the player app is only updated when new content is published to the player machine. This eliminates the risk of accidentally changing the content display (e.g. layout) due to a new app version. When a new version is available in the editor, you are now notified. You should then check that your project's content is properly displayed in the preview, before publishing it to the player machines. Zoom in Firefox: The zoom functionality in the editor is now also available in Firefox. Free positioning for sequence and swap containers: Elements in sequence and swap containers can now be positioned freely. This gets rid of the former restriction that these elements must be centered. Bugs:
If a web page element cannot be displayed because of overlapping content, a text is now displayed inside the element. In this case, move the overlapping elements so that the web page element can be displayed. Restricted users can no longer copy elements that they are not allowed to edit.
Features:
Free positioning layout: Each container can now be switched to the layout method "Free positioning". The sub-elements in this container can then be freely positioned and resized using drag-and-drop. This layout is particularly suitable for intuitive and quick arrangement of elements, without additional nesting of other containers. The existing project templates "Empty" and "Start Screen" were changed to drag-and-drop layout, so that now the subelements can be freely positioned there. The following key combinations are available as positioning aids for the selected element: Alt+H: Center horizontally Alt+V: Center vertically Alt+M: Maximize Hold Alt while moving: Ignore 5-pixel grid Page overview and tree view in the inspector: The overview in the inspector has been revised and now displays the project level pages as a list and the other elements of the current page as a hierarchical tree view below. This makes it easier to find items and focus on individual pages. Duplicate projects: Any project can now be duplicated so that you can easily make modifications to a project and distribute it across different machines. The function is also useful for creating a backup copy of a project in order to be able to continue working from a previous state in the case of undesirable changes. Combined navigation and swap layout: The separately available layout methods "Navigation" and "Swap (conditional)" were merged into one layout method "Swap (navigation/condition)". This allows you to navigate between pages and display pages by condition (for example, a screensaver page) within the same container. Automatically close video pop-ups: When the end of a video in a pop-up is reached, the pop-up is now automatically closed. SiteCaster as a screensaver: SiteCaster can now be set as a screensaver in SiteKiosk Android (minimum SiteKiosk Android version 2.9 is required). Maintaining navigation targets: When elements with navigation targets are copied, an attempt is made to retain them when referring to elements that have also been copied. Bugs:
The speed of saving, transferring, editing and loading large projects has been improved. The clipboard will no longer be deleted when changes to the project are saved. PDF files in pop-ups on Android are now able to be displayed again.
Features:
Navigation: Elements can now trigger a navigation in containers that are set to the new layout "navigation". This powerful feature allows you to create sophisticated user interactions. It can be as simple as a link to a second page or more complex interactions with a multi-language menu driven navigation structure. We've added an extended Start Screen template called "Start Screen (multi-language)" and a simple navigation template called "Simple navigation", that both showcase the navigation feature. Zoom and resolution settings for the editor: This allows you to set the zoom level for the content display. This makes it easier to edit projects that are designed for a different resolution than the monitor you are editing on (for example a portrait mode project on a widescreen monitor). Furthermore the resolution setting is now saved for each project, so that you don't have to set it manually each time when switching between projects. Keyboard shortcuts: On selected elements you can use the following keyboard shortcuts: Delete: deletes the element (after confirmation) Ctrl + C: copies the element Alt when resizing with mouse: continuous resizing (no snapping to 5 pixel grid) Bugs:
Video playback would sometimes hang when too many videos were preloaded at once. When using the transition effect in a sequence, videos were played from the beginning for a short time.
Features:
You can now use the clipboard function to copy elements including all sub-elements and paste them anywhere you like. This also works independently of the project, i.e. you can copy elements in one project and paste them in another. Pasting is done via the "New element" dialog that now includes the new section "Clipboard". Click on a plus button to open this dialog. Creating a custom template now includes all sub-elements of container elements . This way you can now even save complete pages as templates. Bugs:
Pages based on specific templates cannot be reordered after insertion. Image and video fitting settings have been optimized.
Features:
With the new web page element , you can incorporate external content into your project. New display conditions were added: weekdays, specified days, user activity. The new inspector on the right side of the screen incorporates the functions that were formerly present in the selected element's properties dialog and its toolbar. With its integrated overview panel , the inspector also makes it easier to find and select elements in large and complex projects. Project templates can now be added inside a project to implement sub pages . Containers can be set to the new layout method "swapping (based on display conditions)" . This way only the first sub-element that matches its set display condition is displayed at a certain time. You can use this to switch the displayed element depending on the time and also to set a screensaver page (with the new condition "no user activity"). The layout method on containers can be changed now, thus making it possible for example to change a sequence to an overflow container without having to recreate all involved elements. Bugs:
Many smaller errors were fixed and the overall user experience and performance was improved.
