Support Request: Patcher for Autostart Problems after Windows Updates from February 2020

Hello!

Some of our devices were affected by Windows security updates from February 2020. These devices were fixed using patcher file from https://www.provisio.com/en-GB/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=25283.

Can this patcher file be applied also to devices that haven't yet installed these windows updates? And after patched is applied, can this windows security update be installed without any issues?

After installing it I cannot open the Shut donw window, It hangs and than Watchdog restarts Sitekiosk. So I cannot log of and log into the windows admin account.

Please help! Is there a way to abort Watchdog from loading.....

Hello,

There is no known issue with the patcher application. It will just change access rights for the SiteKiosk user to solve the issue caused by the Windows Update but doesn’t change anything else.

You may refer to this FAQ to get access to the admin account again (I would advice disabling the auto login via registry settigns):

When having access again you may do a repair installation and execute the patch again (SiteKiosk must not run and the SiteKiosk user must not be logged in when executing the patch) or do an update:

What about the initial question - Can this patcher file be applied also to devices that haven't yet installed these windows updates? And after patched is applied, can this windows security update be installed without any issues?
